RBHS Jazz Program Achieves Great Results

 

February 24-25, the Rock Bridge jazz program participated in the Northwest State University (Feb. 24) and the University of Central Missouri (Feb. 25) Jazz Festivals.  Students did a fantastic job! Here are the results:

 

Northwest State University Jazz Festival

Rock Bridge Jazz Band – 1st Place in the Second Band Division

Rock Bridge Jazz Ensemble – 1st Place in the 5A Band Division

Overall Outstanding Jazz Soloist in the 5A Band Division – Jack Fetting (trombone)

4:15 Jazz Combo Outstanding Soloist – Samantha Fierke (vocal)

5:30 Jazz Combo Outstanding Soloists – Martin Shapiro (piano), Hallam George (alto saxophone), and Jack Fetting (trombone)

Rock Bridge Jazz Band Outstanding Soloist – Hannah Evans (alto saxophone)

Rock Bridge Jazz Ensemble Outstanding Soloists – Jack Fetting (trombone) and Martin Shapiro (piano)

 At NWSU, our jazz students had the opportunity to watch the Count Basie Orchestra perform.  What an extra special treat to an already successful weekend for the jazz program.
